Description of the marine-grade stainless steel angle bracket with Ø10 mm ball stud – EFBR12S
The EFBR12S marine-grade stainless steel angle bracket with Ø10 mm ball stud is the fixing point between a gas spring and the structure of your boat. It accepts every AS Raymond / Ressorts SPEC gas strut equipped with a 10 mm ball socket, and secures it to the hull, a deck, a hatch frame or a piece of furniture with two screws (not supplied).
Unlike a round flange bracket, the EFBR12S has an angle (L-shaped) design. The ball stud is carried by a vertical web rising from the base plate, so its axis runs parallel to the mounting surface. This configuration is ideal when the gas spring must work alongside the surface it is fixed to: under a hatch lid, along a locker side, beneath a bench seat or at the base of an engine-room access panel.
The base plate features two countersunk holes 32 mm apart. Countersunk screw heads sit flush with the plate, leaving no protrusion to catch cushions, ropes, fenders or fingers in tight spaces. Total projection to the ball stud is just 14.5 mm, keeping the assembly compact in confined marine compartments.
Moisture, spray and salt air quickly attack zinc-plated hardware on board. A marine-grade stainless steel bracket keeps its mechanical strength and appearance season after season, both inside the cabin and on deck. The ball-joint principle lets the gas spring articulate freely through the opening arc, and the ball socket clips on and off without tools, so a worn gas strut can be replaced in seconds without removing the bracket. For shipyards and refit professionals, the EFBR12S is a standard part that fits many applications aboard leisure boats, motor yachts, sailing yachts and work boats.

Installation / Maintenance
Installation:
- Mark the two holes (32 mm centre distance) using the bracket as a template.
- Fasten the EFBR12S to a rigid support with countersunk stainless steel screws (A4 recommended) suited to Ø4.0 mm holes. On thin GRP or plywood, add a backing plate.
- Orient the bracket so the gas spring works in line with the ball stud throughout the opening arc, without side loading.
Maintenance:
- Rinse with fresh water periodically, especially on deck or exterior installations.
- Check screw tightness and the condition of the ball socket during routine boat maintenance.
Our review
✔️ Pros :
- Marine-grade stainless steel, suited to the nautical environment.
- Angle design for gas springs working parallel to the mounting surface.
- Countersunk holes for flush, snag-free screw heads.
- Compact assembly: 14.5 mm projection.
- Tool-free gas strut replacement thanks to the ball-joint connection.
❌ Cons :
- Fixing screws not supplied.
- Only compatible with 10 mm ball sockets (not 13 mm).
- Two-point fixing: a rigid support is essential for high-force gas springs.
Conclusion
The EFBR12S is the right choice when your gas spring must run alongside the surface it is fixed to, such as under a hatch, along a locker or beneath a seat. Its angle design, countersunk holes and marine-grade stainless steel make it a clean, durable solution for nautical use. Before ordering, check that your gas strut uses a 10 mm ball socket, such as the EFBS006S, EFBS002S or EFBS004P, and that the support is stiff enough for the spring force. If the ball must instead project straight out from a bulkhead, the round-flange EFBR13S is the better option; the EFBR07S and EFBR02S offer other fixing patterns with the same Ø10 mm ball.
